„Unia Europejska drogą do osiągnięcia sukcesu dla młodzieży kształcącej się w zawodzie technika informatyka” „European Union as a way to achieve success for youth educating in the profession of IT Technician”

With the cooperation of New Team Sp. z o. o. – our partner from Poland we realized the project titled „European Union as a way to achieve success for youth educating in the profession of IT Technician”. The aim of the internship was raising the attractiveness of the participants at the labor market by  enhancing their professional competences and enabling them to acquire  the first experience of working in intercultural environment.  Training was also a chance for young people to develop  their language competences  and knowledge concerning the culture of Greece.

Within the project there were 4 mobilities organized. Each of them engaged a group of students from different vocational school in Poland, accompanied by the teachers:

- 10.11.2016 – 21.11.2016 – a  group of 20 students from  Post-secondary School Complex no. 2 in Krasnystaw

- 20.03.2017 – 31.03.2017 – a group of 14 students from Agricultural School Complex in Czaratejew

- 27.03.2017 – 07.04.2017 – a group of 16 students from Economic School Complex in Międzyrzec Podlaski

- 15.05.2017 – 26.05.2017 – a group of 18 students from Professional School Complex no. 1 in Włodawa.

 

Vocational training enabled students to get to know the specificity of work in enterprises from IT industry in Greece.  Young people developed also professional competences such as assemblage and use of computer and peripheral devices. Students got to know how to use transmission devices. Every day was different and full of new challenges. Young people took part in activities connected with scrutinizing and repairing of notebooks and other computer devices. Everybody had a chance to identify the defect and repair computer, regenerate a toner in a printer or exchange the screen in a tablet. Students developed also their skills connected with configuration of network devices, software enabling recovery of operational system from the image saved earlier, advanced configuration of the newest operational system, analysis of typical maltunctions of computer power supply units and observed the daily work of IT equipment service. Students could cerifu their abilities connected with IT skills, that they already possessed. Under the careful mentor’s supervision students were preparing and creating databases and immersed in the details of user programs necessary in the work of IT technician, including programming in Visual Basic language and MS Excel use.

Despite the time spent at the internship youth had a chance to become familiar with Greek culture from the inside. 2-week stay enabled them to familiarize with Greek mentality and customs. Students tasted typical Greek food , including famous moussaka and frappe – well known to every Greek person cold coffee.  Participants’ attention was paid to souvlaki, which was quickly compared to kebab. Along with everyday duties students practiced their English and learned Greek language. Hospitality and help og Greeks helped them in overcoming their personal obstacles. They also had a chance to participate in Greek evening,  where they could observe traditional Greek dances. Finally, motivated by typical Greek melodies students tried their best in Zorba dance. During the second mobility students presented the Polish spirit of ‘fight’, where in the specially adjusted area they supported Polish football team in one of the qualifier matches. 

After the training students enjoyed their time at the sunny beach, swimming in the sea or participating in the sport activities and local attractions. During the weekends they also visited culturally important tourist attractions such as Big Meteor, the city of Thessaloniki or Skiathos.

Vocational training in Greece enabled professional development of students and constituted a huge adventure uncovering new perspectives. As a result, students became more communicative, open, self-confident and improved the fluency of using English language.

Project was based on the regulations of Erasmus+ Program in Vocational Trainings Sector and  funded by the European Social Fund of the European Union.
