ABOUT THE PROJECT

Today's Europe faces high & increasing levels of migration into and outside of its borders. Migration has a profound effect on young people that moved to different countries & are not fully integrated into new societies. One of the most common things people stereotype representatives of other cultures is food traditions of the countries migrants came from. However, we believe, that food can serve as a consolidating factor: by learning about dietary habits & traditional cuisines of other countries people can get a better understanding of cultures & it may lead to the demolition of stereotypes & help to put an end to discrimination. Keeping that in mind, we've created a project, that aims to equip youngsters with the tools, which should help them integrate to new communities, raise their entrepreneurial spirit, and contribute to breaking existing stereotypes towards migrants.

DURING THE PROJECT WE WILL:

  • look at traditional food as a cultural phenomenon, think about how it influences our identity, habits and lifestyles, learn about dietary and dining traditions of other countries and share our favorite recipes
  • learn about different types of migration, think about how to contribute to breaking existing negative stereotypes about migrants, share stories about traditional food and its connection to migration experience in media by creating a blog/web page/video or something else that we agree on all together.
  • organize our own Traditional food FEST, where we will try our recipes, prepare delicious dishes and have fun!
  • play games, hold discussions, deliver presentations and develop our English language skills (as English will be a working language). Moreover, we'll make new friends, learn new things about other cultures represented by the participants of the project and enjoy Georgian hospitality:)
