ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ
Through 9 days of activities in Slovenia, the participants will collaborate in activities related to three related topics: Inclusive socio-psychological lectures and workshops will introduce participants to concepts of identity, diversity and similarity, intercultural dialogue and tolerance. In the second phase, the experts will guide participants through the importance of media literacy, where they will learn how to critically evaluate the information. Lastly, being able to identify common values and goals, the participants will jointly choose the idea to stand for and make a public exposure, having experience of active engagement for a good cause and the usage of media to promote it.
The activities will be attended by 40 participants from 8 organizations, aging between 18 and 25 years old in groups of 5, including 3 youngsters with fewer opportunities and 1 (older) youth leader. The project is addressing the youngsters with backgrounds facing economic, social and cultural challenges in their local environments.
The overall objective of the project is to engage young people with fewer opportunities from different social backgrounds through learning about the concepts of identity, diversity in tolerance, enhancing their media literacy skills in and the active promotion of shared values.
The specific objectives of the project are the following:
1. learning about the concepts of identity, diversity and similarity, intercultural dialogue and tolerance through inclusive socio-psychological workshops,
2. exploring the importance of media literacy through and learning the methods needed to critically evaluate information,
3. exploring common values of equality, dignity, tolerance, freedom and respect for human rights, defining a common goal and engaging in public promotion of values.
The objectives of the project are in line with the Erasmus + program, which promotes the "European values" of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, respect for human rights, including the right to belong to a tolerant, just and solidarity-based society without discrimination.
Participants will leave the project richer with the knowledge about key concepts that are necessary for understanding and development of today's multicultural society. They will be equipped with approaches and tools to create a context where cultural diversity does not create a conflict. They will make progress in understanding media messages and critically evaluating the received information. They will have the experience of active social engagement on a way to positive social change. They will establish personal contacts with members of different cultures, which will be a step forward in understanding social groups with different values and norms, and will contribute to mutual respect and avoidance of conflicts.
The project addresses current goals by engaging marginalized youth, learning them about diversity and cultural dialogue, and training them for media literacy and critical thinking to prevent radicalism and engage them into initiatives for shared values.
