ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ

“If you don't know the trees you may be lost in the forest, but if you don't know the stories you may
be lost in life". -Siberian Elder
Story is deeply embedded in all our cultures, present from the very beginning, when through its
power people gathered in tribal groups and then later formed nations around national myths and
heroes. Even today, story plays an important, integrative role and shapes our lives and identities in
manifold ways.
"Evidence strongly suggests that humans in all cultures come to cast their own identity in some sort
of narrative form. We are inveterate storytellers."(Owen Flanagan).
In this course we will explore the stories which have shaped our lives, both culturally and individually.
We will share our 'national myths' and come together to explore and decode the legend of Parsifal,
often described as an archetypal story of European values and identity.
Participants will also be encouraged to create and tell their own stories, using a mixture of methods
of storytelling, voice and theatre. Throughout, we will practice the art of storytelling and appreciate
how to use it as an effective tool in intercultural dialogue.
