ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ

Violence against women remains the worst aspect and consequence of war. Men - dehumanised by taking
part in armed conflict - are far more likely to commit rape and other atrocities.

We will explore this tragic phenomenon with the goal of finding ways to re-humanise and heal both men and
women. We will explore the cause and quality of negative dynamics between the sexes and how these can
be transformed through techniques of listening and self-enquiry. We will learn and practice the principles of
non-violent communication, developed by Marshall Rosenburg. Alongside this explorative work, we will share
tools and techniques of theatre, which can illuminate the experience of male-female strife (e.g. emotion
statues, forum theatre) as well as actor’s exercises for strengthening voice and presence.

We will take “The Winter’s Tale” as our study text, creatively exploring the act of violent madness,
committed by the main character against his wife - and its eventual redemption. We will devise a live
performance, showing the journey from anger and attack, through reflection and remorse, to forgiveness
and reunion.
