ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ

Today young people are the most educated generation than ever. Nevertheless, they encounter difficulties in entering and remaining in the labour market. For many of them, the transition to work is  problematic. Opportunities for young people to find a job are bound to the general state of the economy and overall employment situation in a country. However, they are also influenced by the education and skills young people possess, the relevance of these skills for the labour market and the possibilities available to youth to apply and use these skills. Youth work plays an important role in supporting the employability and employment of young people. Through youth work young people can develop and get knowledge, skills and competences and find a place in society and step into the labour market.

The project "Youth Work for Youth Employability" is the training course which aim is to boost youth workers` capacity to foster youth employability and entrepreneurship. This training course will empower the participants with competencies to help themselves and young people they work with to gain employability skills useful for the labour market and life. The following objectives must be achieved during the project:

- to foster participants’ understanding on the main causes and consequences of youth unemployment in Europe;

- to learn about the main policies on youth employment in European countries;

- to promote discussion on the importance of entrepreneurship and learn how youth workers can promote it through NFE;

- share best practices on youth employability;

- create follow up projects that can multiply the results of the training and create real opportunities for young people employability;

- to improve the intercultural competences of participants by working in an international context;

- to improve skills of participants in designing and implementing learning process and developing educational activities through NFE to acquire skills for employability;

- get awareness of youth unemployment at the European level, mapping the skills needed for increasing the employability of young people, identifying educational processes for intervention;

- to build a qualitative partnership between youth organizations from Program countries and expand the network of EA "WOH".

The project will be organized by EA "World-Our Home" in Rezekne, Latvia from 1.04.-7.04.2019. Project partner organisations will be from 14 countries and 16 organisations from Croatia, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Malta and Latvia.  In the training course there will be used the following non-formal education methods: the acquaintance activities, the "ice breakers", the team building activities, brainstorming, energizers, the intercultural activities, round-table discussions, presentations, practical workshops, debates, evaluations, reflection time. This training course will gather 35 participants from 14 European countries and 16 organisations together with the organizers EA "WOH" from Latvia. The methodology of the project is based on the fundamental principles of non-formal education.

The results of the project will be the new skills, competences and knowledge of youth workers and efficient cooperation among the partner-organizations in the field of youth and youth employability. The following learning outcomes, competences, skills and attitudes will be improved during the activities of the project: learning to learn, knowledge of main skills for youth employment, unemployment problems, communication in foreign languages, team work, intercultural competences, the broader understanding of practices, policies and systems in non-formal education and youth field, possibilities of Erasmus+ program as a tool for youth employment, mobility and entrepreneurship, development of initiative and enterprise skills, promotion of mobility activities for youth.

The desired impact of the project on the local and regional level is the following: to have the good prepared youth workers in assisting and managing youth projects directed to the successful work with young people to develop their skills, knowledge, and competences that enhance their ability to secure and retain a job, progress at work and enter more easily into the labour market at different periods of the life circle. The desired impact of the project at the European level is the following: all the partner-organizations will have the strengthened collaboration and long-term sustainability in the cooperation among the participating organizations to keep it as a long term goal for further common projects using non-formal education as its main tool that will have the efficient impact on the partner organizations, the participants and the participating countries.
