ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ
"ComCare" is a Training Course project addressing public and private discourse issues related to 'gender' bias, 'disability' (ableism), and 'age' (ageism and adultism). This project underscores communication as a means to cultivate care and compassion, responding to social trends showing a rise in hate and discriminative speech negatively impacting social cohesion. ComCare is focused on addressing the issue of discriminatory speech and its social impact, while also providing participants with empowering tools. Speech is used to include individuals, helping them feel a sense of belonging in their context. There's an emphasis on creating a tolerant, inclusive environment through peace speech.
Our vision through this project is to contribute to the transformation of communities into models of diversity where every individual feels empowered, safe, and welcome, regardless of the dimensions in which they belong. Utilizing innovative non-formal learning activities, participatory workshops, and awareness campaigns, our Erasmus+ project seeks to drive positive transformation. This approach involves holistic education initiatives to significantly reduce discrimination in everyday speech, cultivating a culture of respect, inclusivity, and understanding across these dimensions. The project aims to empower individuals to challenge stereotypes, promote their rights, serve as allies for others' rights, and actively participate in creating a better, harmonious society, aligning with Eurostat data and EU values.
At its heart, ComCare focuses on empowering participants to recognize and challenge discriminatory speech in diverse settings, thereby deepening their insight into the role of biased language in perpetuating social discrimination. This involves equipping the participants with the abilities to detect biased narratives in both media and everyday interactions, promoting a culture that values inclusivity, and engaging in critical evaluation to distinguish inclusive language from discriminatory expressions. Furthermore, the initiative investigates the potential of art as a vehicle for advocating peaceful dialogue and fostering innovative approaches towards social transformation and inclusiveness.
Objectives:
➔ To empower youth workers to identify bias in media and individuals in everyday life, in order to address and prevent discriminatory practices.
➔ To equip youth workers with critical analysis skills towards peace speech and effectively combat discriminatory speech.
