ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ

Regarding recent refugee crisis, the Internet has erupted with hatred. The recent events in European
countries have shown us in the hardest way the devastating impact of non-participation of shared
values and fundamental rights like respect for diversity. Youth work requires honesty and a willingness
to deal with alarming issues, to deconstruct barriers and stereotypes between (young) people and
promote intercultural dialogue. The outcomes of our project can externalise and verbalise these
sensitive issues, creating the potential for building trust and making change possible.
Before we designed this project, we asked ourselves: what are our conceptions of society? Do we have
influence on young people that goes beyond what others did so far? How can we manage this? As an
answer, we decided to organize a social campaign that will be coherent with our values, breaking
negative stereotypes about refugees fleeing to Europe and teaching others to welcome the newcomers.
We expect to reach hundreds of people through different media platforms: Facebook, YouTube and
Twitter. The campaign will make the main tangible result of this exchange.

Objectives:
1) The main aim of this project is to enhance intercultural awareness, that is among the objectives of
this specifc key action. By breaking down the myths about refugees, that are migrating to EU countries
nowadays, we will provide space for greater understanding and responsiveness to cultural and religious
diversity. We are planning to reduce stereotypes and promote intercultural harmony through media and
education about diversity.
2) This project links to the promotion and better awareness of European values which is among the
general objectives of Erasmus+ Programme, in accordance with Article 2 of the Treaty on European
Union: "The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality,
the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities.
These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination,
tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail."
